I successfully acquired as many Nick Bantock (of Griffin & Sabine fame) ink pads and re-inkers as I could, after recently discovering they are discontinued. This line includes my very favorite brown dye ink: Van Dyke Brown.
One of my favorite things to photograph is the sky, and one of the best spots to see it is on the drive home from work, taking the 'bypass' - a short stretch of highway into CR from Marion. The sky is wide open and frequently full of amazing cloud formations. An example from last week (actually, this was taken in our parking lot):
Over the weekend, our oldest cat got sick with a uti. I'll spare the gory details, but suffice to say I am very thankful for emergency vet clinics, even if they are more expensive. It's worth having someone to call and ask questions, and that can see you at any time of the day or night. I ended up taking her on Sunday, and was impressed with how they dealt with me and her. She's not the friendliest cat with strangers, and her last vet appointment was a disaster. Funny thing though: when they put a cone on her so she couldn't hurt them she calmed right down and was super sweet. Weird.
They brought her in to sit with me while they got her meds ready, but she wasn't having it. And later, when I gave her the first dose, she screamed so loud she blew out her voice. She can barely squeak. So, it's been a rough few days for this one. And our other cat's reaction has been really interesting to observe. She knows Kahlan is sick, and is not happy about it. When I have to give Kahlan her medicine, I have to shut Edie out so she doesn't hiss and make Kahlan more agitated. We don't often see how tuned in they are to each other, but it's been apparent
Yesterday I took the long way to pick up lunch (because I just needed to drive for awhile) and I passed a familiar sight to Marion-ites:
A Knight's Sweet Corn stand. I know, I couldn't believe it either. So I stopped for cash and picked up a dozen on my way back home. Eric and I had several ears for lunch/supper, and I stripped the kernels to freeze. I think I'm going to make corn chowder. Yum. Here's another glamour shot of the goodness:
